The Best Excursions In Lanzarote
Lanzarote, the Eastern most Canary Island, has been welcoming tourists for over forty years. With over 1.5 million visitors arriving on the island during the course of 2008 alone.
As a result the tourist industry here is reasonably well developed. Enabling visitors to choose from a wide selection of Lanzarote excursions during their stay. All of the leading tours and trips can be booked via either a tour operator or the reception desk of most Lanzarote hotels and apartment complexes. As well as direct with the excursion operators themselves. Whomever tourists book with the end price remains the same. And most of these companies will also pick up and return their guests to their accommodation.
The best known excursion on the island is undoubtedly Lanzarote´s very own Yellow Submarine. Which is located in the upmarket marina of Puerto Calero. Some ten minutes drive from the main and most popular resort on the island, Puerto del Carmen.
The Yellow Submarine is operated by a company called Submarine Safaris and they take guests on an underwater voyage of exploration. On a decent sized craft that measures 18.5 metres in length. The sub is kitted out with viewing windows and interior TV screens. Enabling those on board to get the best possible views of the surrounding marine wildlife. Which includes a wide array of sharks, rays and many different types of tropical fish. The Yellow Submarine dives a number of times per day, every day – and is an excellent family day out.
Puerto Calero is home to not one but two of Lanzarote´s leading excursions. As this is also the embarkation point for the Catlanza catamaran. A giant twin hulled vessel which is very stable and which takes guests on a cruise along the southern coastline of the island to the beaches at Papagayo. Widely regarded as the most beautiful beach in Lanzarote.
Here the friendly crew drop anchor and start preparing lunch whilst the guests on board soak up the sun on deck or enjoy a spot of swimming and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. Free Jet Ski rides are also available and the cruise price also includes free food, drink and transport to and from your accommodation.
Another excellent nautical option is the Princessa Ico – which takes guests on a voyage to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. Taking in the small islet of Los Lobos – The Wolves – on route. Again guests get to enjoy an all inclusive day on board whilst being able to explore the incredible Dunas National Park, with its 16km of pure white sands.
