A Taste Of The Oriental With An Asia Vacation

The continent of Asia is a fascinating place with incredible architecture and ancient history. It’s a culture shock for westerners that visit there. I was very fortunate in being able to go on an Asia vacation recently.

I enjoyed it very much and would love to go back there. My husband and I stayed with a friend in a suburb of Tokyo, Japan and we used his apartment as a base. We got to know the capital quite well and met some of our friend’s Japanese friends and colleagues.

The Japanese people are extremely friendly and love to meet foreign visitors. They were very keen to practice their English on us. The highlight of our time in Japan was when we went to Kyoto to see the temples, castles and shrines there. Another memorable time was our journey on the bullet train. Blink and you miss the scenery!

After exploring Japan, we flew to Hong Kong for the next part of our Asia vacation. It’s a very lively, bustling place and is full of contrast. The old narrow streets and tenement buildings sit next to the modern, office skyscrapers on the waterfront. We had a trip on the ferry and we went up into the mountains to see a Buddhist temple.

Our favorite part was just walking round the market stalls and seeing the everyday life of the people there.

The next flight was to Beijing, China. We didn’t really know what to expect from this part of the Asia vacation. The first thing that you notice is the constant noise of car horns. The Chinese are turning away from the bicycle to cars in a big way. We did all the tourist attractions, such as Tiannmen Square and the Forbidden Palace.

The whole experience was very interesting, although the signs in English were not translated very well. We then traveled by train to Xian to see the famous Terracotta Warriors. I would say that this is a must see item on any Asia vacation agenda. The rows on rows of soldiers and their horses is quite awesome and they’re still working on the dig.

Our time in Asia was an incredible experience. Seeing the attractions and the people going about their daily lives was a real eye opener. I would like to see many other countries on an Asia vacation, such as Russia, India, Nepal and Vietnam.

It would be good to see all these countries by train and really take in the scenery.

Down Under On An Australia Vacation

I don’t think I have looked forward to anything in my life as much as the Australia vacation I am going to take next year. I may have been excited about college, but that was a life-changing event.

Perhaps this will be too, though I can’t see how. I do know that I can’t wait to see some of the country and to experience life on the other side of the world for a few weeks. I also have friends there, and I can’t wait to finally meet them at last.

I will take my daughter with me for my Australia vacation, and I hope it is something that she never forgets. She is already excited even though we aren’t leaving for another year.

We will take our Australia vacation in December when it is cold and snowy here, and warm and sunny there. The summer is in full swing in Australia during our winter, so it’ll be very interesting to see how Christmas is celebrated where this is no snow and everyone is wearing shorts.

I would take my Australia vacation this year, but it is going to take me a while to save up for it. I have already saved some, but even just the airfare for my daughter and me is very expensive. It also take a long time, almost an entire day, to fly from where I live to where I am going for my Australia vacation, so I don’t want to stay just one week.

Because of the price of airfare and the long travel time, I plan to stay for at least two weeks, if not three. I want to see and do all I can while I have the chance. It might be a while before I can afford to go back for another visit.

You can save money on an Australia vacation if you take the time to look around and find the best prices on airfare and accommodations. The flights you find can differ in price as much as a few hundred dollars, and if you are buying more than one plane ticket, that can mean a lot of money in savings. You should also research where you want to stay on your Australia vacation.

You don’t want to spend all your money on hotel, but you also don’t want to be staying where you don’t want to be. Make the most of it, and enjoy all that they have to offer by getting a decent but well positioned place to stay.

Keep The Memories Forever With An African Safari

One vacation that many couples dream about is visiting Africa. A trip to such an exotic locale can usually draw a couple closer and strengthen the bond that they share. The raw and animal qualities that are in the wild untamed lands can bring out the animal in all of us.

An African safari has become more affordable and a favored vacation idea for newlywed couples looking for a memorable honeymoon experience.

There are few places that one can fully appreciate a sunset or the star filled nights as on a trip like this. Many of the guides that are involved with an African safari will keep the trip safe, yet will do all that they can to make it one that will be a memory that will never be forgotten.

Your tour guide will explain every detail of your African safari and they’ll ensure that you’ll see and feel what the region has to offer. A lot of visitors wind up going on an African safari at least a few times in their life because they instantly fall in love with the experience.

Many people are also taken with the animals they see as they move along the African savanna. With the dry wind whipping past and the sun glaring down, the wildlife brings forth something that can not be seen anywhere else in the world.

The savanna is just one area that can be seen on an African safari though. There are also lush areas that are filled with colorful forms of life and also the high lands to the south. A skilled guide will find a way to make the African safari something that will showcase all of this and make the whole experience last long beyond the typical two weeks that these adventures can take.

There are individuals who enjoy these adventures alone, but they are truly special when they are shared with someone else. Even a family can experience the adventure in a way that will teach more to children than any movie or book ever will.

Some of Ernest Hemingway’s greatest inspirations can from his trips to Africa during the course of his life. He is only on example of someone that has shown the beauty that can be experienced on an African safari.

If you have a “to do” list, you should consider putting a trip to Africa on it. Once you are there, soaking up the atmosphere, hearing and seeing all the continent has to offer, you’ll sing the praises an African safari to everyone.

A Study of African Culture

When it comes to different cultures, there is a great deal to be learned. Personally I have no intention of learning everything about every race, religious group, and culture on this planet.

This would take an eternity. On the other hand, if it is a field that interests you, I suggest you check into anthropology. Now, what about your own culture? I would bet you harbor an interest in it specifically. Most of us do. Whether it’s Irish, Australian, Chinese, German or African culture is irrelevant.

You can acquire the knowledge you’re looking for, and there are several ways to do so. Are you ready to learn where you came from?

Back in college I was able to dabble in African culture. I had an anthropology course that touched on this particular subject; therefore I decided to write a paper on it. Although I have an Irish background, African culture is still interesting to me.

I would bet that most cultures are in some ways, simply because they have different traditions. You get to learn new things. One thing I found funny was a fellow student’s remark during a review session. She made a comment about African culture and black people in general.

She claimed that they don’t like other races experiencing and/or practicing their culture. Hmm, this isn’t a bad point, but I wouldn’t make the statement so exclusive. I think this can be said about any race. I have had the pleasure of knowing a great variety of people in my day. I would guess around a dozen different cultures.

I’ve learned a few things. There are good and bad individuals in all of them. Furthermore, we, as in human beings, tend to be territorial when it comes to our cultures. It’s almost like we’re not willing to share them past a certain point. They belong to us, because they are a part of where we came from and what we represent. I believe this is present in the African culture, just as it is in the European, Japanese, or Latino cultures.

It has nothing to do with race, but a lot to do with being human.

I absolutely recommend the study of African culture and any culture that’s not your own. You can learn so much and truly expand your mind. This type of education does a great deal for race and culture relations. Knowledge is not only power, it’s understanding as well.
