International Travel – The Good And The Bad

Most people like to travel the world and the globe is getting smaller all the time. I like International travel as much as anyone and I’ve been lucky enough to see a lot of different countries.

I know it sounds hypocritical but I do worry about the environmental damage that’s being doing as a result of all this whizzing around. Air travel in particular is harmful and it’s increasing all the time. My solution would be to limit the number of domestic flights at least. We have to do something or international travel will take our earth beyond saving.

Instead of having to get to our destination in record time, it would be nice to savor the journey sometimes. Often, the journey is as good as getting there. Before passenger airplanes, people used to travel at a leisurely pace. Forget airport delays, wouldn’t it be nice to cross continents on a sleeper train. How romantic that would be.

You can see all the scenery close up and feel like a real adventurer. International travel on a steam train across Europe would be perfect.

Even a bus journey across America and Mexico would be a good experience. I’ve always wanted to cross from coast to coast on a Greyhound. It’s better than seeing everything from eight miles up. A road trip would be great too, stopping at diners on the freeway and meeting interesting people on the way. International travel should be a relaxing time.

A lot of people go on cruises. For most, it’s the vacation of a lifetime but some people go on them regularly. They are expensive, but if you can afford one, it’s a great means of international travel. They are a floating hotel with the highest standard of facilities. I’ve been told you are bound to put on weight on a cruise because the food is so good and plentiful. You can always jog round the deck a few times to lose the calories.

The security restrictions have obviously hit air travelers the most. Fortunately, most people have not been deterred from international travel, despite the inconvenience. There are still lots of places that I want to visit, including places of wilderness.

I fear that the last, few truly wild places are quickly disappearing. I hope that some areas are left in peace, without an airport being built. Just because we can build runways everywhere doesn’t mean that we should.

A Taste Of The Oriental With An Asia Vacation

The continent of Asia is a fascinating place with incredible architecture and ancient history. It’s a culture shock for westerners that visit there. I was very fortunate in being able to go on an Asia vacation recently.

I enjoyed it very much and would love to go back there. My husband and I stayed with a friend in a suburb of Tokyo, Japan and we used his apartment as a base. We got to know the capital quite well and met some of our friend’s Japanese friends and colleagues.

The Japanese people are extremely friendly and love to meet foreign visitors. They were very keen to practice their English on us. The highlight of our time in Japan was when we went to Kyoto to see the temples, castles and shrines there. Another memorable time was our journey on the bullet train. Blink and you miss the scenery!

After exploring Japan, we flew to Hong Kong for the next part of our Asia vacation. It’s a very lively, bustling place and is full of contrast. The old narrow streets and tenement buildings sit next to the modern, office skyscrapers on the waterfront. We had a trip on the ferry and we went up into the mountains to see a Buddhist temple.

Our favorite part was just walking round the market stalls and seeing the everyday life of the people there.

The next flight was to Beijing, China. We didn’t really know what to expect from this part of the Asia vacation. The first thing that you notice is the constant noise of car horns. The Chinese are turning away from the bicycle to cars in a big way. We did all the tourist attractions, such as Tiannmen Square and the Forbidden Palace.

The whole experience was very interesting, although the signs in English were not translated very well. We then traveled by train to Xian to see the famous Terracotta Warriors. I would say that this is a must see item on any Asia vacation agenda. The rows on rows of soldiers and their horses is quite awesome and they’re still working on the dig.

Our time in Asia was an incredible experience. Seeing the attractions and the people going about their daily lives was a real eye opener. I would like to see many other countries on an Asia vacation, such as Russia, India, Nepal and Vietnam.

It would be good to see all these countries by train and really take in the scenery.

Down Under On An Australia Vacation

I don’t think I have looked forward to anything in my life as much as the Australia vacation I am going to take next year. I may have been excited about college, but that was a life-changing event.

Perhaps this will be too, though I can’t see how. I do know that I can’t wait to see some of the country and to experience life on the other side of the world for a few weeks. I also have friends there, and I can’t wait to finally meet them at last.

I will take my daughter with me for my Australia vacation, and I hope it is something that she never forgets. She is already excited even though we aren’t leaving for another year.

We will take our Australia vacation in December when it is cold and snowy here, and warm and sunny there. The summer is in full swing in Australia during our winter, so it’ll be very interesting to see how Christmas is celebrated where this is no snow and everyone is wearing shorts.

I would take my Australia vacation this year, but it is going to take me a while to save up for it. I have already saved some, but even just the airfare for my daughter and me is very expensive. It also take a long time, almost an entire day, to fly from where I live to where I am going for my Australia vacation, so I don’t want to stay just one week.

Because of the price of airfare and the long travel time, I plan to stay for at least two weeks, if not three. I want to see and do all I can while I have the chance. It might be a while before I can afford to go back for another visit.

You can save money on an Australia vacation if you take the time to look around and find the best prices on airfare and accommodations. The flights you find can differ in price as much as a few hundred dollars, and if you are buying more than one plane ticket, that can mean a lot of money in savings. You should also research where you want to stay on your Australia vacation.

You don’t want to spend all your money on hotel, but you also don’t want to be staying where you don’t want to be. Make the most of it, and enjoy all that they have to offer by getting a decent but well positioned place to stay.

Keep The Memories Forever With An African Safari

One vacation that many couples dream about is visiting Africa. A trip to such an exotic locale can usually draw a couple closer and strengthen the bond that they share. The raw and animal qualities that are in the wild untamed lands can bring out the animal in all of us.

An African safari has become more affordable and a favored vacation idea for newlywed couples looking for a memorable honeymoon experience.

There are few places that one can fully appreciate a sunset or the star filled nights as on a trip like this. Many of the guides that are involved with an African safari will keep the trip safe, yet will do all that they can to make it one that will be a memory that will never be forgotten.

Your tour guide will explain every detail of your African safari and they’ll ensure that you’ll see and feel what the region has to offer. A lot of visitors wind up going on an African safari at least a few times in their life because they instantly fall in love with the experience.

Many people are also taken with the animals they see as they move along the African savanna. With the dry wind whipping past and the sun glaring down, the wildlife brings forth something that can not be seen anywhere else in the world.

The savanna is just one area that can be seen on an African safari though. There are also lush areas that are filled with colorful forms of life and also the high lands to the south. A skilled guide will find a way to make the African safari something that will showcase all of this and make the whole experience last long beyond the typical two weeks that these adventures can take.

There are individuals who enjoy these adventures alone, but they are truly special when they are shared with someone else. Even a family can experience the adventure in a way that will teach more to children than any movie or book ever will.

Some of Ernest Hemingway’s greatest inspirations can from his trips to Africa during the course of his life. He is only on example of someone that has shown the beauty that can be experienced on an African safari.

If you have a “to do” list, you should consider putting a trip to Africa on it. Once you are there, soaking up the atmosphere, hearing and seeing all the continent has to offer, you’ll sing the praises an African safari to everyone.

A Study of African Culture

When it comes to different cultures, there is a great deal to be learned. Personally I have no intention of learning everything about every race, religious group, and culture on this planet.

This would take an eternity. On the other hand, if it is a field that interests you, I suggest you check into anthropology. Now, what about your own culture? I would bet you harbor an interest in it specifically. Most of us do. Whether it’s Irish, Australian, Chinese, German or African culture is irrelevant.

You can acquire the knowledge you’re looking for, and there are several ways to do so. Are you ready to learn where you came from?

Back in college I was able to dabble in African culture. I had an anthropology course that touched on this particular subject; therefore I decided to write a paper on it. Although I have an Irish background, African culture is still interesting to me.

I would bet that most cultures are in some ways, simply because they have different traditions. You get to learn new things. One thing I found funny was a fellow student’s remark during a review session. She made a comment about African culture and black people in general.

She claimed that they don’t like other races experiencing and/or practicing their culture. Hmm, this isn’t a bad point, but I wouldn’t make the statement so exclusive. I think this can be said about any race. I have had the pleasure of knowing a great variety of people in my day. I would guess around a dozen different cultures.

I’ve learned a few things. There are good and bad individuals in all of them. Furthermore, we, as in human beings, tend to be territorial when it comes to our cultures. It’s almost like we’re not willing to share them past a certain point. They belong to us, because they are a part of where we came from and what we represent. I believe this is present in the African culture, just as it is in the European, Japanese, or Latino cultures.

It has nothing to do with race, but a lot to do with being human.

I absolutely recommend the study of African culture and any culture that’s not your own. You can learn so much and truly expand your mind. This type of education does a great deal for race and culture relations. Knowledge is not only power, it’s understanding as well.

Kayak Equipment – Get The Best

What do you prefer to do on your time off? I think we all have certain activities in mind for our weekends and vacation days. For me this free time involves relaxing with my family.

Maybe we’ll go see a movie, hit up the local Aquarium, venture off on a camping trip, or even just hang out around the house. The important thing is we’re together. I was just chatting with my brother and he was going on and on about kayaking. He and his wife love to do this.

They invested in some pretty fancy kayak equipment a couple years back; therefore they enjoy tackling the rough waters. Maybe kayaking is an activity suited for your free time.

I truly appreciate all the access to fine products we currently have. If you’re searching for something, regardless of what it may be, chances are you’ll either find it in a local store or on the web. It’s a win-win situation.

About a month ago I was checking out some camping gear on the R.E.I. website. They have oodles of equipment that I would love to purchase. As a matter of fact, if you’re into camping, hiking or kayak equipment, I suggest you check out there web store. Or even better yet, head on over to one of their stores for an up-close and personal look.

You never know, you may spot something you just have to have. I end up doing this all the time. Hey, once I have my hands on it, it’s hard to put it back and walk away. As I tell my wife, it was calling to me.

If you’re interested in some outdoor activities, then why not check out what’s in your area. I’m sure there are a few things available. Get online and discover the world Mother Nature has to offer. In not time at all you’ll be needing quality camping and kayak equipment. Or maybe you’ll crave the rock climbing scene. A lot of folks are into this now days.

Whatever you get your mind set on, one thing is for certain; you can acquire the finest equipment conveniently. Heck, you don’t even have to leave your home anymore. You can have that sweet kayak equipment sent to your door step.

Now if that isn’t awesome, I don’t know what is.

The Lure Of Relaxation On Fishing Trips

To some people, there is absolutely nothing more relaxing than being in a boat that is in some body of water. Perhaps the waves are gently rocking the boat providing comfort or maybe the water is perfectly still, giving you a sense of complete peace.

When you plan a fishing trip, sometimes that is what you may find. My parents used to take our boat out for a weekend and we’d spend the days and nights on the water. My dad considered them fishing trips but my mother and I referred to them as being a weekend escape.

There were times in which I did attempt to do some fishing, but mainly I spent my time relaxing, napping and reading. My mother and I would lay on the deck soaking up the sun. My dad and brother took advantage of these fishing trips to lure the local fish onto their lines.

Sometimes they were successful in catching some nice fish, but more often than not, they’d be throwing the fish back in the water or complaining that nothing was biting.

Fishing trips are a wonderful way to escape and spend some time either alone or with friends and family. Even if you don’t own a boat or live near a body of water, you can plan fishing trips in nearby states or destinations.

There is a website called fishingtripsusa.com that can help you locate places that you can find fishing trips and enjoy your peaceful getaway.

There are always fishing trips to be found when you travel to the beach. They might just be fishing trips that last a few hours, or an entire day. Some places will offer excursions that last overnight as well. Of course, fishing trips that take you out into the deep seas provide a great deal of excitement since there are even more fish to be caught.

There’s nothing more exciting than discovering that what is on the other end of your line is a swordfish, shark, or ray. I’ve watched my father reel in small sharks before and it seems like it takes forever to actually get them within reach. I can’t imagine what catching a larger shark or fish would be like.

But, that’s the excitement of fishing trips – the peace and tranquility and the unknown adventures that are in store for you.

No matter where your fishing trip is going to take place, or who you are journeying on the adventure with, make sure you take time to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy your surroundings.
