International Travel - The Good And The Bad

Most people like to travel the world and the globe is getting smaller all the time. I like International travel as much as anyone and I’ve been lucky enough to see a lot of different countries.

I know it sounds hypocritical but I do worry about the environmental damage that’s being doing as a result of all this whizzing around. Air travel in particular is harmful and it’s increasing all the time. My solution would be to limit the number of domestic flights at least. We have to do something or international travel will take our earth beyond saving.

Instead of having to get to our destination in record time, it would be nice to savor the journey sometimes. Often, the journey is as good as getting there. Before passenger airplanes, people used to travel at a leisurely pace. Forget airport delays, wouldn’t it be nice to cross continents on a sleeper train. How romantic that would be.

You can see all the scenery close up and feel like a real adventurer. International travel on a steam train across Europe would be perfect.

Even a bus journey across America and Mexico would be a good experience. I’ve always wanted to cross from coast to coast on a Greyhound. It’s better than seeing everything from eight miles up. A road trip would be great too, stopping at diners on the freeway and meeting interesting people on the way. International travel should be a relaxing time.

A lot of people go on cruises. For most, it’s the vacation of a lifetime but some people go on them regularly. They are expensive, but if you can afford one, it’s a great means of international travel. They are a floating hotel with the highest standard of facilities. I’ve been told you are bound to put on weight on a cruise because the food is so good and plentiful. You can always jog round the deck a few times to lose the calories.

The security restrictions have obviously hit air travelers the most. Fortunately, most people have not been deterred from international travel, despite the inconvenience. There are still lots of places that I want to visit, including places of wilderness.

I fear that the last, few truly wild places are quickly disappearing. I hope that some areas are left in peace, without an airport being built. Just because we can build runways everywhere doesn’t mean that we should.

A Taste Of The Oriental With An Asia Vacation

The continent of Asia is a fascinating place with incredible architecture and ancient history. It’s a culture shock for westerners that visit there. I was very fortunate in being able to go on an Asia vacation recently.

I enjoyed it very much and would love to go back there. My husband and I stayed with a friend in a suburb of Tokyo, Japan and we used his apartment as a base. We got to know the capital quite well and met some of our friend’s Japanese friends and colleagues.

The Japanese people are extremely friendly and love to meet foreign visitors. They were very keen to practice their English on us. The highlight of our time in Japan was when we went to Kyoto to see the temples, castles and shrines there. Another memorable time was our journey on the bullet train. Blink and you miss the scenery!

After exploring Japan, we flew to Hong Kong for the next part of our Asia vacation. It’s a very lively, bustling place and is full of contrast. The old narrow streets and tenement buildings sit next to the modern, office skyscrapers on the waterfront. We had a trip on the ferry and we went up into the mountains to see a Buddhist temple.

Our favorite part was just walking round the market stalls and seeing the everyday life of the people there.

The next flight was to Beijing, China. We didn’t really know what to expect from this part of the Asia vacation. The first thing that you notice is the constant noise of car horns. The Chinese are turning away from the bicycle to cars in a big way. We did all the tourist attractions, such as Tiannmen Square and the Forbidden Palace.

The whole experience was very interesting, although the signs in English were not translated very well. We then traveled by train to Xian to see the famous Terracotta Warriors. I would say that this is a must see item on any Asia vacation agenda. The rows on rows of soldiers and their horses is quite awesome and they’re still working on the dig.

Our time in Asia was an incredible experience. Seeing the attractions and the people going about their daily lives was a real eye opener. I would like to see many other countries on an Asia vacation, such as Russia, India, Nepal and Vietnam.

It would be good to see all these countries by train and really take in the scenery.

Down Under On An Australia Vacation

I don’t think I have looked forward to anything in my life as much as the Australia vacation I am going to take next year. I may have been excited about college, but that was a life-changing event.

Perhaps this will be too, though I can’t see how. I do know that I can’t wait to see some of the country and to experience life on the other side of the world for a few weeks. I also have friends there, and I can’t wait to finally meet them at last.

I will take my daughter with me for my Australia vacation, and I hope it is something that she never forgets. She is already excited even though we aren’t leaving for another year.

We will take our Australia vacation in December when it is cold and snowy here, and warm and sunny there. The summer is in full swing in Australia during our winter, so it’ll be very interesting to see how Christmas is celebrated where this is no snow and everyone is wearing shorts.

I would take my Australia vacation this year, but it is going to take me a while to save up for it. I have already saved some, but even just the airfare for my daughter and me is very expensive. It also take a long time, almost an entire day, to fly from where I live to where I am going for my Australia vacation, so I don’t want to stay just one week.

Because of the price of airfare and the long travel time, I plan to stay for at least two weeks, if not three. I want to see and do all I can while I have the chance. It might be a while before I can afford to go back for another visit.

You can save money on an Australia vacation if you take the time to look around and find the best prices on airfare and accommodations. The flights you find can differ in price as much as a few hundred dollars, and if you are buying more than one plane ticket, that can mean a lot of money in savings. You should also research where you want to stay on your Australia vacation.

You don’t want to spend all your money on hotel, but you also don’t want to be staying where you don’t want to be. Make the most of it, and enjoy all that they have to offer by getting a decent but well positioned place to stay.
