The Advantage Of Aquiring Travel Accident Insurance

You have to be honest, but how many people reading this article have taken a vacation and decided, to their detriment, that they did not require travel accident insurance? By taking out travel accident insurance cover you can guarantee that no matter what happens you will be covered even for problems with baggage, personal belongings, travel delays and emergency return flights.

Be aware though that checking the travel accident insurance beforehand is important as many of the eventualities you need covered may be extras; not just the amount of cover but also what happens if your trip is cancelled or there is a problem with your luggage for example.

It may be time consuming to search, compare and choose the best travel and medical insurance types and prices to suit your needs and budget but it is well worth it for your peace of mind. When carrying out your travel accident insurance research, remember that travel agents are there to sell you a holiday or travel deal and may not know much about travel and medical insurance policies so may not have the answers you need to make an informed decision.

Some good advice is to visit the websites where you can find lists and information about various offers, then compare them, and choose the best ones to suit your needs.

Even if your present health insurance will pay doctor and hospital bills when you’re out of the country, you may want to purchase a travel accident insurance policy to get other important benefits such as coverage for air ambulance transport and on-site medical expense payment. Travel accident insurance should, if the correct plan has been researched, cover every type of situation and not just those of an emergency medical nature such as delayed or cancelled flights and lost or stolen personal effects for instance.

Always ensure that a comprehensive travel accident insurance policy is exactly that and covers every situation, even where baggage is delayed and necessary items need to be replaced as well as 24hr medical assistance. To ensure complete coverage is part of your travel medical insurance, it is a good idea to check whether overnight hospital benefits are included, usually 0 per night, whenever the trip is outside Canada or the USA.

When an insurance claim has to be lodged owing to an incident it is important to notify the company who has supplied your trip travel insurance as soon as you are able. When you return from your vacation, you will need to collect all your receipts, proof of ownership (where necessary) and any other relevant information collected from the Police or medical establishments and forward them all to the insurance company claims department to assist in an early settlement.

Working with your insurance company is far preferable to working against them as they can be of great help in a crisis and it is nice to have that peace-of-mind that when you return you won’t have further problems to deal with because you failed to inform them of what was happening. Choosing your travel accident insurance may at first seem a trivial matter but you can guarantee if anything untoward is going to happen, it will happen when you are on vacation in another country and where you will need comprehensive cover the most.

Penalty Tries Adds To The Total Rugby Score

Viewing rugby makes much more sense and becomes far more fun when you can follow the rugby scoring system. Once explained it is quite simple to follow and once you grasp the points value for each activity you will find the game more exciting.

There are a few fundamental ways to put points on the rugby scoreboard. They are the drop goal (also known as field goal or drop kick), penalty goal, try, penalty try and conversion.

Drop Goals

The conversion and the penalty goal require a specialist kicker to place the ball and kick it between the vertical goal posts and over the crossbar of the goal posts. The kicker may select between using a kicking tee, pile of sand or sawdust to kick the ball from. He steps back and then runs up to the ball prior to kicking between the posts.

A drop kick is different to a conversion in that the player drops the ball from his hands and tries to kick the ball over the crossbar and between the vertical goal posts during the run of play. It is a specific skill, and field goals are rare – they take perfect timing and lots of practice to master.

A referee can give a penalty try if he believes the defending team purposely fouled the attacking team in an attempt to prevent them completing a move that would have ended in a try being scored. The official phrase is ‘beyond reasonable doubt’.

To show this the referee runs to a central point under the crossbar of the goalposts, lifts his arm and blows his whistle. The attacking team gets the opportunity of a conversion kick with the opportunity to add points to the score.

Kicking Conversions

Scoring a try is the best way to rack up points in rugby. A try is scored when the attacking team goes over the defending teams goal-line and places the ball on the ground in their in-goal area. Once a try is scored the referee lifts his arm and blows his whistle. Both the try and the penalty try are valued at five points each.

When a try is scored the referee stands at the point where the try was scored and points in a line back up the pitch parallel to the sidelines. The goal kicker can take the conversion attempt at any point along that line.

Usually the kicker takes the conversion attempt somewhere he/she feels comfortable around 20 – 30 metres from the goalposts. Kicking a conversion adds 2 points to the try scoring side. When a team triumphantly kicks a penalty goal they are awarded 3 points.

When a team is making a conversion attempt, the defending team must stand on or behind the goal-line. As the kicker prepares to take the conversion, the players are permiteed to rush the kicker as he starts his run at the ball.

The tally for a converted try is a total of 7 points (5 for the try and 2 for the conversion).

Rugby Score

For any team to make the top there is a requirement for an outstanding goal kicker to be in their team. Goal kickers are immensely valuable as there are many indiscretions in the play of an average rugby game.

One of these indiscretions being made in a teams defensive area of play gives a chance for their opponents to score valuable points against them. A kicker who can victoriously kick a goal from any area of the field instantly puts incredible pressure on the opposing team.

An outstanding goal kicker in your team, with a specialist field goal kicker or two, most certainly makes a great start for any team to get their highest rugby score. It also puts pressure on any team they play.

The Advantages of Purchasing Trip Travel Insurance

Are you contemplating a vacation?  If so you should look into securing a trip travel insurance policy to protect yourself, and your family. Many things can happen while you are on vacation or even before depart.  It?s imperative to be informed of the kind of expenses that can be incurred while traveling, which could be avoided by having an insurance policy

This is when it is makes sense to acquire travel insurance.  Travel insurance can cover most situations from trip cancellation to the cost of emergency care while overseas.  All insurance companies are not equal so it pays to do your homework before making your purchase.

Several travel insurance policies will offer as normal coverage- trip cancellation, or delays, medical and dental treatment, medical emergencies including evacuation and transport  to home, lost luggage, emergency transportation and accidental death.
Many insurance policies contain exceptions that rule out coverage of certain situations. The will exclusions vary from policy to policy.

There are some events that are never covered by travel insurance policies, under any circumstances. It is important to be aware of this before travelling. These events are war (although most policies will cover for terrorists attacks), Interruption to your trip due to business or contractual commitments, and mental or nervous disorders.

There are a few kinds of insurance related to travel that you may not want since you are probably covered by other sources.  Thus, you’d be purchasing double coverage. You probably don’t need flight insurance because your term life insurance will likely cover accidental death and your medical insurance will likely cover any injury that occurs in flight.   Similarly, accidental death insurance is probably a duplicate of any life insurance you might have.  Also ignore the collision damage waiver at the car rental counter because its a duplicate of your auto insurance.

At the same time, lush rainforests among the oldest in the world, exotic plants and intriguing animals, majestic mountain ranges and iridescent and pristine seas that hug miles of unspoiled beaches all find their home in Malaysia.

Is it expensive? Not at all! A vacation in Malaysia is very affordable compared to many other countries in the same region. $1 is approximately RM3.30 and one can vacation in Malaysia for literally a few dollars a day. Backpacker lodges and motels are aplenty all offering the thrifty traveler very reasonable accommodation at affordable prices. Other countries in the region may be cheaper but offer so much less in terms of places of interest, things to do, entertainment spots and recreational facilities.

If you are seeking a quality vacation with a difference, I will share with you what is in store for you in Malaysia.

If you are the adventurous type, try climbing to the peak of Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, East Malaysia. At 4096 m (about 13, 350 ft) high, it stands head and shoulders above all other peaks in the Crocker Range. It is the highest mountain in South-East Asia. But the unique thing is that its summit is just below the snow-belt and that means anyone even without specialist training or equipment can climb to its peak as long as you are fit enough.

Did you know that the very first series of ‘Survivor’ was shot entirely at Pulau Tiga, a tiny island part of Sabah? Then there are the Mulu Caves in Sarawak, the largest cave chamber in the world. Walking into its interior is an experience like no other. In Malaysia, you can find the largest flower in the world, the Rafflesia. Catch a glimpse of the Proboscis monkey, the species of monkey with the largest and most prominent nose of all or scuba dive into some of nature’s most beautiful coral-laden waters swarming with colorful sea creatures you have never seen in Redang, Perhentian or Sipadan Islands. Try eating the durian, a thorny fruit with a distinct taste and smell. The durian is called the King of Fruits by the locals. Some say it’s the smelliest fruit in the world!

If you are the city-loving type, enjoy the sights and sounds of metropolitan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital city. Mega shopping malls that sell international brands of goods and services, street bazaars that promote local products and souvenirs and roadside vendors that sell trinkets are all found here. Be entertained at Malaysia’s world-class entertainment spots such as Genting the City of Entertainment. Genting Highlands also houses Malaysia’s premier casino where you can try your hand at all sorts of games of chance.

For the culturally inclined, you can catch fascinating cultural dances, traditional occupations such as basket weaving, kite flying, top spinning competitions, batik (a local style of cloth and design) printing, traditional music and plenty more. Buy locally made handicraft of all kinds as a remembrance of your visit. Muzium Negara is the national museum of Malaysia. It houses a plethora of artifacts, displays and exhibitions that detail the history, tradition, culture and lifestyle of Malaysia.

If you want to learn about the history of Malaysia, there is no better place to visit than Malacca. The state of Malacca is where the earliest settlers to Malaysia first arrived. In Malacca you can still see remnants of previous colonial powers that ruled Malaysia centuries ago. The remains of the famous fort A Formosa built by the Portugese in the 16th Century still stands, as do the Stadhuys, unique brick-red buildings built by the Dutch about a hundred years later.

All these wonderful experiences await you in Malaysia. Whatever you would like to experience or enjoy, come to Malaysia and discover it for yourself.

Helpful Advice About Paddleboat Cruise

Taking A Paddleboat Cruise

In May my husband and I took a wonderful steamboat trip on the Colombia River, 1,240 miles long, and Snake River, 1,038 miles long, aboard the American West’s Empress of the North. This is the first time we had ever done a “niche” type cruise and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yes, the clientele tends to be older, but, what a shame that the younger mature adults are missing out on all this fun. It is steam boating in the true sense of the word. The paddlewheel turns as you leisurely make your way up and down the rivers and through the many dams that have been erected since the time of Lewis and Clarke. The ship is patterned after the river boats that plied the waters of Alaska, Oregon and Washington over 100 years ago and has a distinctly Russian flavor.

On the particular adventure that we took it was to follow the path of the Lewis and Clarke expedition so it was historical as well as fun. We boarded the Empress of the North in Portland, Oregon with no mishaps just a bit of a long wait. However, they did supply entertainment and refreshments while they prepared the ship for us. Once aboard we were escorted to a lovely stateroom that was right out of the riverboat era. It was roomy, beautifully decorated and had a balcony with two chairs and a table. There was a TV but we never used it since the real entertainment was the trip and the excursions which were included in the price of the cruise. The rooms reminded you of the river boat era but were very much up to modern standards.

Just a little tidbit: The “Portland Penny” is how Portland got its name narrowly missing being called Boston. The partners Lovejoy and Pettygrove who had filed the claim staking the territory needed to come up with a name for the quickly expanding territory. Lovejoy being from Boston, Massachusetts was adamant that this would be the name, while Pettygrove equally adamant wanted it to be called Portland after his beloved Portland, Maine. Hence the “Portland Penny” when Pettygrove won two out of the three tosses.

The artwork on the Empress was truly impressive. There were beautiful Russian artifacts and amazing pictures of the gold rush and life in the Northwest during the 1800’s. I spent a lot of time just going up and down the four hallways perusing the artwork. (Every floor has a different theme). Our first night out of Portland we were invited to cocktails and hors d’oeurves at the Paddlewheel lounge which is in the back of the boat and has windows overlooking the paddle wheel. We were still busy getting situated so we grabbed a cocktail and took it back to our room to get organized. Dinner was in the Romanov Dining room and the atmosphere really was one of a riverboat. The food was very good served by a courteous and fun American crew. Dinner lasted about an hour to an hour and a half and then it was off to the Golden Nugget showroom to watch the Pat O’Neal and the River Boat Jazz band play great Dixieland Music. Well, if you weren’t into it by then you never were going to be. What fun and you are sharing it with only 200 other passengers. After the show you could stay in the Showroom for dancing or go to the Paddlewheel Lounge for the duo of Kari & Jerry who were not only very good but extremely friendly.

Of course, you are in a new place everyday and everyday brings a new exciting, educational and different excursion. Our first day out we where cruising the Columbia River Gorge taking in the breathtaking vistas, granite cliffs and waterfalls from which the Cascade Mountains takes it’s name.

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip and would recommend to other adults, this not a ship for children.
